Announcement

Well I have decided if there is anything momentous or exciting happening in our lives I am going to announce it here. That way I can say well I told everyone, and when they say I didn't, I will just ask if they keep up with the family blog. When the answer from everyone is "No." Then they won't have anyone but themselves to blame, right?

But our newest development is that we will probably be having our little guy arrive sooner than planed. I am measuring 34 weeks instead of 32 weeks. I hope that this means we have him mid April and he is a whopping 8 or 9 pounds as opposed to another 10 pounder...although having someone come in under the 8 pound mark would be a novel experience for us.

Dinosaurs

The boys just had to share their greatest experience yet with all of you. We took them to the Walking with Dinosaurs Live show over the weekend. It was so much fun. I have never seen them quite so mesmerized by anything. And yes that does include the TV. To quote Ender, "Wow!"

It was pretty cool when the long neck came out. He stretches his neck out over the audience, and at one point in time the boys swear he was looking RIGHT at them.

The mom t-rex is impressive and being life size, doesn't make you want to walk with real dinosaurs anytime soon. Her roar was enough that one time Kale grabbed Raiden and he jumped right out of his seat!

I think over all the kids liked this baby t-rex the best. He was quite a character. Walking around like he owned the arena. He had a pretty good sense of humor too. After his mom would roar he would walk up and mimic her and act like he was pretty hot stuff for scaring you.

Christmas Present

The True meaning of Eat Dirt!!

Well Mckell finally got up the courage to eat it. She had the most priceless look on her face when she took her first mouthful.

Maybe mom and dad were saying no for a reason!

And Deron is getting bigger! We had to start putting some clothes away already because they are too small. He is a month and a half though so i guess it is about that time. We can't wait to see everyone at the end of the month for the swimming party.

So worth it! I went to the opening show last night and I am not sorry to have stayed up that late, or to fork over the money for the movie. For a fourth move in an incredible series it was a great movie. Yes, two hours is a long time to sit for a movie. I don't like to watch anything over about an hour and a half anymore, but this doesn't even give you time to sit back and relax. With the opening credits off you go.

It was a little weird that they tied him into the crystal skull, because of all of the alien phenomenon linked with it, I mean, Indiana Jones and aliens? Need I say more? But there is enough of the chasing, stunts and antics in the movie for you die hard Indy fans to overlook that one minor flaw.

The teens in the audience did seem to enjoy the movie too, but I think this one is truly for those who grew up loving and enjoying the first Indy movies. It had the jokes, the bugs, and the comical escaping associated with an Indiana Jones movie. Also as a side benny, those who wondered about some certain characters from previous movies this answers the all important, "What happened?", that you might have been harboring all these years.

All in all, get a sitter, or take turns seeing it if you can't get one, but go see this in the theater. It will be worth your while!!

MOM and DAD this means you. You would really enjoy it. Rope him into going somehow mom!!!

Growing so fast!

He's getting so big. We took him for his 2 week checkup and he has already grown 2 inches and 2 pounds. Well not exactly but close enough. We also had our first experience of what little boys do when their diaper is off too long. We were at out wic appointment and I was in such a hurry I forgot to pack an extra outfit so he had to come home naked and he also went pee all over his blanket so we had to wrap him up in the one we had over the car seat and drape the wet one over the top so the rain didn't get him. Talk about a nightmare. But we have learned our lesson now. He is doing so well. He eats like a boy and poops like a boy. Enough said........

And yes I know that they look a little crooked and it's not a full tail like some other cousins. But we still love her the same.

Even when Mckell is sick she demands to be in style. I couldn't help but take a picture. Mckell has been sick with a stomache virus and she had pooped through all her pants but she wanted to wear her boots so badly so she wore them all day with no britches on. And she loved it. She always smiles after I take the picture.

Adam's Surgery

For any of you who don't know, Adam had surgery on his left ankle to tighten the tendons so he can run and play without spraining his ankle every day. The surgery went well, and he's been on crutches for the last few weeks, but he's hanging in there. He'll get his right ankle fixed after school's out. Here are some pics, the first one is with the stitches still in, the second one is after the stitches were taken out.

Those of you not familiar with the Mesquite area, are probably unaware of the dangers that exist for the travelers in April. Many a person, both local and tourist alike, have been caught unawares by the deadly Pillow Slides. Each year the number of casualties grow larger, so we ask both locals and tourists to keep on eye out and to report any avalanches they come across.

Unfortunately for Judge Peacock, he didn't practice his Pillow Slide safety and was buried alive on Wednesday evening. He was found by his parents but they were to late, he had succumbed to the awful weight of the pillows and fallen asleep.

The Shepherd Clan

We are here. We finally were able to get going on this. Hopefully you will all get to here more about us now. We had a chance to meet a big star the other evening and Chris I'm sure has sent it to everyone but here it is again. He wasn't as tall as I thought he would be but he was still taller than me. If you couldn't guess it is Williams from the Utah Jazz. Chris insisted that we have our picture taken. Just ignore the fat lady on the right. She woulnd't get out of the picture!

Horton

We saw Horton Hears a Who recently. It is a cute movie. It does get a bit long for the little guys, but they did enjoy it. They were concerned at the end when everyone was ganging up on Horton. Really concerned. And when it was resolved they enjoyed the ending.

It is a pretty good watch for the adults too. You almost wouldn't realize that it was Jim Carrey playing Horton. He does do a few of his trademarks, but they blend so well into the actual movie that they don't pop out at you. By far the ending is my favorite part. When you see it you will know what I mean. I also like the character Jo-Jo in it. Not only because of the name, but his roll is a good one, and Jesse McCartney who does his voice has talent.

Fast Forward

Well time for our update.

Raiden lost a tooth last Friday. It was his first and he is way excited. The tooth fairy gave him two dollars and that was the best. He spent one dollar on some smell pencils that his school are selling. His smells like root beer.

Judge, not to be outdone by Raiden, got his first buzz cut for the summer. Nice and short at a #2. He loves it. He says it makes him Handsome, not cute! Cute is for Ender. But he looks really good, even if he is a tall skinny kid. He had his first psych appointment and it went really well too.

Ender has four teeth and more of him is changing. He decided not too long ago to make use of his little walking toy. I have had it set up for him to play with. He just grabbed it and started to walk around with it. He is such a little independent boy. I am amazed by him constantly. He will be walking all by himself any day now. Scary but true.

Kale and I stay pretty much the same. Me short and needing to lose weight, him taller and playing basketball with the fellow teachers. What else does march madness do for the male of our species?

I know I messed up on getting online to wish everyone a Happy Birthday on their special day. Sorry, I guess my age is catching up to me. So this will be a bit longer of a Happy Birthday post, but I will include everyone in it.

Judge, Happy 4th Birthday, on March 17th! And even though mom isn't great at cake decorating, yes!, that is a t-rex.

Kristie, Happy 24th Birthday, on March 18th! I didn't get a picture of her for the blog, so I thought I would put her favorite animal on.

Raiden, Happy 6th Birthday, on March 19th! He couldn't decide between an alligator and a snake, so when I told him I would do a purple snake that is what he decided on!

Last the best of all the game, Happy Birthday to Me (Hallie) as well on the 19th. I turned a whopping 27! Yippee!

Mesquite Update

Judge is loving life having his two good free hands back. He also can't wait for his birthday in two weeks.
Raiden thinks his new glasses are really great. He loves them being purple. He too can't wait for his upcomming birthday.

Ender is happy to have his four teeth. What can get better than having sharp objects in your mouth that help you shred paper?

Hiatus

Well were has everyone gone? We are doing as well with the blogging lately as the current family newsletter. Sorry about that Adam and Misty. I had it all planed out in my head what I was going to write, and next thing I know it is Monday.

Well if you haven't heard via the grapevine yet, Judge and I spent Tuesday evening in the ER. He and Raiden were playing in the tub. He decided he needed to climb the walls, and Raiden decided he needed a push to get down. Long story short, as well as a short fall later, Judge has a broken clavicle. Talk about a fun injury. I know that Adam as had a broken one, as well as Kale, but I bet you it couldn't be as fun as it is for Judge. You might as well tell a hummingbird to quit moving its wings so fast.

Poor little guy is miserable, and just doesn't listen to reason. I have told him several times to take it easy and not try to move around so much, but he likes to prove me wrong. So he is grumpy and in pain. Hopefully the pain will pass quickly....

Happy New Year

We hope you all made it through the New Year celebration. Kale and I had a good time. We went to Adam's and Misty's for a little get together. Picture eight adults in their living room and three baby's rolling on the floor. That is what it was for a little bit of it. But we had a good time. The kids loved visiting their grandparents, even if Judge didn't get in a tractor ride. I think all of the fun new toys managed to keep it from his mind.

So welcome 2008! May we have a good time this year, with another baby yet to be born, two baby blessings, and a missionary farewell.

Christmas Greed

Well it has begun. The spirit of Christmas greed amongst the children. They are so happy with what they got, until it comes to the time of actually getting them out and playing with the toys. Then there is always the disputes of how they want to play with the other child's toy and of course the other child sees no reason for them to share. After all these are their new toys. It is nice to know that this is a cycle that seems to be unbroken. The kids had a great Christmas. They each enjoy it in their own way.

Ender had a blast trying to sneak the paper. Either from his own gifts or from others. The challenge was to see how much he could get in his mouth before someone else got it away from him. He succeeded rather well.

Raiden had a great time opening things. They get to the point that they keep asking "Where is more for me? Don't I have any more to open?" At least he was cute enough at the end to say that he loved Santa cause he brought him exactly what he asked for.

Judge is another store in himself. You have to let him savor the moment. Each presents gets its own chance of time in the spotlight. Some do get more time then others, but they are savored just the same. You try to rush him at all and world war III occurs.But in the end they all start out happy and ready to eat.

Ender has finally gone down for a nap (so has Mari for that fact) and now the playing with the toys can start full swing.

So Merry Christmas to all, and we hope to see if not talk to you over the Holidays!

Growing Up

Well aren't we getting mighty big?! That is what the Pediatrician said to Ender today at his check-up. It is amazing how fast they grow. He started out at 10lbs 5 oz and is a proud 20lbs today. Even more stunning is that he is 29 inches tall. Our other boys were always tall for their age, but at the rate he is growing he will be the only one year old that I have met who is three feet tall.

Meeting Santa

Tonight AJ & Aaron got to meet Santa for the first time. They loved it! Misty's Dad is one of Santa's Helpers, so he came up to get pictures with the boys and their cousin Holly. Although the boys didn't really get it, they had fun and loved sitting on Santa's lap...and testing his beard to see if it was real. No worries, AJ and Aaron are both on the Nice List. Their Dad, however, has a little bit of work to do! With Christmas only 8 days away, he'd better take some lessons from the twins--and fast!

Ender announces.... He is proud to share with all that he has been here on earth six months today. He still is short, round, and can't talk, but boy can he find fun things to do. Like spitting cereal, chewing on everything, jumping in his johnny-jump-up, and making his all famous raspberries.

Makes you wonder why we all can't find the simple joy in life like a baby huh? But he is a happy and wise six month old. Or at least we think he must be wise. How else would you explain his being able to get anyone to do anything for him?

I am not being a Thanksgiving hater or not giving it the notice it needs, but I think we should start posting gift ideas for Christmas. If everyone could post things they and their families need or would like that would help with the Christmas shopping. And that way we don't have to keep calling or ask in person, and you can keep adding things to it...more fun don't you think?

Dentist

I finally did it. I got a dentist frustrated enough that he admitted that almost no matter what I do, I probably would have problems with my teeth. I had my root canals done yesterday. Holy cow. You would almost have better luck prospecting for gold in mom's and dads backyard. He could barely get to the teeth. As it was he had to use every trick at his disposal short of dislocating my jaw or putting me out to get it done.

Even better was as we were cleaning up so I could go...you know cause after three hours in a dental chair, everyone wants out...he tells me,"Don't be surprised if you are in pain for the next few days, and you will probably be that way for at least a week or two." Oh, goodie...You know when they offer to numb you up so you can just leave the office, that it is going to be a bad one.

Well tonight, Aaron and AJ got their first taste of real baby food...something other than rice cereal, anyway. They had peaches. AJ loved it and couldn't get enough. Aaron on the other hand, wasn't very impressed. It was cute to watch them pull all of the faces!

Dr's Visit

Well we had a semi long day. Raiden got his stitches out. It has healed very nicely. Judge went in because he has had a chronic cough for the past month. They think it is a type of asthma that children can get. Hopefully it is, so he can and does grow out of it. And the funnest part, our water heater sprung a leak. So we had the plumbers here today until about seven. Not so bad when you look at it written down I guess.

And the biggest news, Raiden has his very first parent teacher conference tomorrow. It ought to be very interesting.

Things at school have definietly been different. Between having classes that dont make sense to going to the local elementary school to help teach sixth graders. My math class is for sure the hardest thing in the world. I dont care for math that much to begin with, but it is a requirement for the field that I am going into. You know that your life is sad when your excitement for the day is when you go to the mailbox. It is even more depressing when there is nothing there. Well that doesnt mean to send me any of your bills. Food however is always accepted. Even though I am well fed by Tiffani. You could say that Tiffani is my new best friend. She cant cook alot but I am in the process of teaching her all the things that we have eaten at home for years. She also has a cooking apartment and I dont. That is another plus. Heya everyone! I thought I would post the first official participant post. I thought I would put my photos on here instead of on the family newsletter and see how it went. As you will see the kids had a fun time for Halloween. I also put on, at Raiden's insistence, proof of his war wound and how brave he is. As you can tell, Raiden was a Ninja Turtle (no masks at school so the green hair and red face paint), Judge was an uncooperative dragon, and Ender was Simba (so says Judge).

Hello everyone!

I thought it might be nice to have a family blog. This way we can post tidbits or talk about things in general without having to catch each other on the phone. It is a fun way to discuss things near and dear to our hearts or just frivolous and fun. I hope you can all enjoy this family time together, and that we will hopefully grow closer together. Enjoy and participate, or at least read and laugh at some of our comments and conclusions.
